Design Analysis

I feel that this design works well on many levels. The type is legible but also playful and whimsical, which is appropriate for the subject matter. The use of texture in relationship to the way the type is laid out makes the aesthetic relate to the content.  The hierarchy is thoughtful and easy for the eye to take in. The “cut-paper” aesthetic also relates back to the time when the book was written, while standing alone as a very engaging illustration style. All of these elements together provide the viewer with an experience that is better than any single element of this piece.
