I feel that this
design works well on many levels. The type is legible but also playful and
whimsical, which is appropriate for the subject matter. The use of texture in
relationship to the way the type is laid out makes the aesthetic relate to the
content. The hierarchy is thoughtful and
easy for the eye to take in. The “cut-paper” aesthetic also relates back to the
time when the book was written, while standing alone as a very engaging
illustration style. All of these elements together provide the viewer with an
experience that is better than any single element of this piece.
